“My skills transform the world”

This project was born with the purpose of accompanying, guiding and training children, adolescents and young people in skills, so that they become tools that will allow them to face the new social, educational and labor challenges of the future.

Goal

This initiative in conjunction with Fundación Telefónica had as its final objective the creation of educational modules for use throughout the entire Social and Digital DNA programme. These modules would work offline, in remote places without internet connection, and would have as physical support, a printed PDF with the content of the workshops.

The final result

At an educational level, this project uses computer programming as a key element to develop skills through play and interaction, resulting in children and young people with enhanced skills in conflict resolution, creativity, innovation, leadership and responsibility.

“With these modules you can discover how to enhance various skills such as problem solving, creativity, innovation, self-knowledge and teamwork, but through the use of technology.”

The process

From the beginning, the idea was clear. But during the early design steps, I was undecided on what the screens would look like for this solution. It was always thought of doing something friendly for the facilitators who would lead the workshops and expose it to several children and young people, and the initial ideas started from modular structures and similar to administration sites with centralized content and bars on the left and in upper positions that contain the navigation elements.

Perhaps the biggest problem was as the screens grew, since one of the technical requirements of the project was to do everything in basic HTML, and not depend on connectivity of any kind. This requirement demanded that each module and each theme with its individual screens be structured in HTML one by one, and that if any detail needed to be updated, it would have to be done manually and file by file.

Another problem encountered along the way was a somewhat bureaucratic barrier, since the brand manuals, graphic resources, feedback meetings, and client comments were obtained at a very advanced stage of design and development. This was nothing more than an additional motivation and made the times tighten to the maximum, and the pressure resulted in immediate results.

What was learned

Working with a renowned client was a success, and the entire process was a constant learning process. The pressure of knowing that the final product had to comply with various national and international standards was an important motivation. The most significant part of this initiative was the purpose that would be given to the modules that were being set up, and that, once completed, would serve many people to face their own challenges.
